Julia Anderson, age 96, of Buffalo Lake, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Hutchinson Health.
Funeral Service is Wednesday, January 9, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
Officiating clergy will be Rev. Robert J. Lehner
Julia Marie Anderson was born December 25, 1916, in Alfsborg Township, Sibley County, rural Winthrop, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Charles F. and Anna C. (Carlson) Alm. Julia was baptized as an infant at the St. James Lutheran Church by Rev. Lundholm, and confirmed in her faith as a youth at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church by Dr. Bowman. She grew up near Bernadotte, and received her education in her home area Country School.
At a young age, Julia went to work at neighboring farms, and she later worked at Northrup King in Minneapolis and at A & W in Winthrop grading eggs.
On March 4, 1961, Julia was united in marriage to Harry Anderson at the First Lutheran Church in Winthrop. The couple lived and farmed the Anderson home farm in Preston Lake Township, and retired from farming in 1981. After Harry passed away on July 31, 2003, Julia remained on the farm. Julia enjoyed taking care of their home and two daughters, Joyce and Carol.
Julia was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, where she was active in the Esther Circle and Women of St. Paul’s. She was also a member of the Home Extension and a 4-H leader. Julia loved gardening and working in her large strawberry patch. She enjoyed baking breads and cookies, and working word find puzzles. Julia was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan, and spent many enjoyable hours listening to games. Of her hobbies and interests, spending time and visiting with family was her most enjoyable pastime.
Julia passed away at the Hutchinson Area Hospital on Sunday, January 6, 2013, having reached the age of 96 years. Blessed be her memory.
Julia is survived by her children: Joyce Anderson of Buffalo Lake, and Carol Murray and her husband Richard II of Buffalo Lake; grandchildren: Eric Forcier of Stewart, and Jason Forcier of Mankato; stepgrandchildren: Leon Murray of Mankato, and Richard Murray III of Eagan; great-granddaughter Alexandra; stepgreat-grandchildren: Isaac, Emilee, Laela, Verena, Sarah, Richard IV, Isiaah, and Makenzie; sister-in-law Margaret Ahl of Hector; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, and by her sisters, Viola Flygare, Myrtle Sjogren, and Lillian Flygare.
