Dist. 84 board accepts resignation
SLEEPY EYE – On Thursday, the District 84 school board accepted the resignation of elementary teacher Cyndi Jakel effective Jan. 18, 2013.
“It’ll be a loss for us,” said Supt. John Cselovszki. “She lives in New Ulm and her kids go to school there. I have a long-term sub candidate in mind that has subbed here. You can vote on it at the next board meeting. We’ll open the job up again in April.”
The board also approved:
An Improving Student Achievement Initiative/Flexible Learning Year (FLY) Application.
2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 FLY draft calendars.
A $1,000 New Ulm Medical Center donation earmarked to buy high school physical education curriculum promoting wellness and fitness and an anonymous $500 donation for elementary library books.
High School Principal Shane Laffen’s report about continued collaboration with Springfield and Cedar Mountain schools for business education. The schools already collaborate in industrial arts.
Hiring special education paraprofessional James Glaubitz at 6.75 hours a day at $9.93.
Electing treasurer Jon Riederer and re-electing chairperson Darla Remus, vice chairperson Casey Coulson and clerk Sheila Schmid.
The next board meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, in the district conference room.
