Nehls Park water tower aesthetics committee appointed
NEW ULM – The New Ulm Park and Recreation Commission appointed new member Mary Borstad as its representative on the Nehls Park water tower aesthetics committee on Monday at City Hall.
The committee is charged with determining the color, graphics and verbiage for the water tower. It will consist of a representative from Park and Recreation, the City Council, the Public Utilities Commission and Flandrau State Park. The other organizations will select their representatives going forward.
The Nehls Park water tower will replace the water tower located at Hermann Heights. The new water tower is aimed at providing the water needs for the New Ulm hilltop area. The Hermann Heights site will be used to develop the park.
In other action, the Commission approved the project to replace the facade envelope for the City’s indoor pool. The unintentional transfer of warm air into the walls and cold air into the walls from outside creates conditions that wear on the walls. The engineering and bidding process is expected to cost $12,000 and the Commission has $200,000 available this year for the construction of the project.
