New Ulm girls’ hockey tops Fairmont

FAIRMONT – Brook Schugel scored three goals to lead the way for the New Ulm girls’ hockey team in a sound victory against Fairmont in South Central Conference action on Tuesday.

Schugel scored the first and second goals for the Eagles, both unassisted. She also scored the team’s fourth goal on an assist from Ellie Dittrich.

Brittany Denn scored the third goal of the game with assists by Dittrich and Erika Ries.

The rest of the goals, in order, were scored by Ries (Denn, Carson Reed assists), Lexi Fischer (Denn assist), Kali Denn, Lexie Weiss (Morgan Schaefer, Jenny Gag assists) and Sam Guggisberg (Schugel assist).

Bailey Landreville stopped all 18 shots she faced in net for the Eagles.

New Ulm (10-6-1) will host Austin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
