Level III Predatory Offender in rural Bird Island
OLIVIA – The Renville County Sheriff’s Office reported a 52-year-old Level 3 Predatory Offender moved into Bird Island Township, rural Bird Island on Friday, Jan. 18.
Jeffrey J. Lingl has been convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct or other offenses that require registration with law enforcement. He has a history of sexual contact with female victims from age four to adult.
Lingl is white, 5-feet, 9-inches tall, weighs 164 pounds and has a fair complexion He was known to his victims, according to a Renville County Sheriff’s Office news release. He is not wanted by police at this time and served his court-imposed sentence.
This notification is not intended to increase community fear but rather to inform the public because the Renville County Sheriff’s Office believes an informed public is a safer public.
A community notification meeting regarding the offender is scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Bird Island Municipal Building. Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) and Renville County Sheriff’s Office will provide useful public safety information at the meeting.
Law enforcement, supervised release agents and the DOC may not direct where offenders live, work or go to school. The risk level of this offender has been determined based largely on his potential to re-offend based on his previous criminal behavior.
