New Ulm edges MCA in gymnastics

SHERBURN – New Ulm held off Martin County Area Friday night in South Central Conference gymnastics action.

New Ulm’s Michaela Otterstatter fell short in the all-around, scoring 34.95 for second place. Rebecca Steen of Martin County Area took first with a 35.425.

In vault, Otterstatter tied for third place with teammmate Allison Rosenhamer, as both finished with an 8.85.

In bars, Kim Berg took first place with an 8.8, Otterstatter took third with 8.325 and Emily Gulden scored an 8.05 for fourth place.

Otterstatter took the beam with an 8.975. Gulden was second with an 8.5 and Kirsten Spaude was third with an 8.4.

Steen of MCA took first in floor with 9.425. Gulden took second (9.075) and Molly Klimek was third (8.95).

New Ulm (6-1 overall, 4-0 in SCC) will host Marshall Monday.
