Madsen leads Cougars over Nicollet

NICOLLET – Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Nicollet Friday night in a non-conference girls basketball game.

Allison Madsen led the Cougars with 21 points. Brianna Lund added 16 points and Emily Ochs scored 12 points.

Kayla Giefer led the Raiders with 17 points and nine rebounds and Alyssa Wagner scored 13 points.

Nicollet (11-6, 8-4) travels to Martin County West Monday night. CM/C (12-6, 8-4) travels to play Sleepy Eye Monday night.

MVL 68, Sleepy Eye 45

SLEEPY EYE – Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Sleepy Eye Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Mariah Schoof led the Chargers with 14 points. Alexa Alfred scored 11 points and Anna Munsen had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Justine Gonzalez led Sleepy Eye with 11 points and Josie Schieffert scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds.

MVL (17-2, 10-1) plays at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Monday night in a Tomahawk Conference game.

Sleepy Eye (6-14, 2-10) hosts Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (11-6, 8-4) Monday night in a Tomahawk Conference game.

Springfield 60, NUC 55

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield defeated New Ulm Cathedral Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference game.

Jordan Salonek scored 15 points, had five rebounds and five assists to lead the Tigers. Sam Groebner scored 14 points and Joeli Arnoldi had 13 points.

Lindsay Simon scored 15 points and Karlee Pfaff scored 14 points for the Greyhounds.

Springfield (10-9, 7-6) travels to Fairfax to play GFW (3-14, 1-11) Monday night.

New Ulm Cathedral (12-6, 8-5) is at Sibley East Monday night.

BLHS 60, GFW 47

FAIRFAX – The Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart girls basketball team defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference clash on Friday night.

Michelle Melsha led the way for BLHS with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Erika Zanoth scored 15 points, while both Hannah VanderVoort and Mara Olinger scored 12 points in the win.

Halley Busse led GFW by scoring 23 points. Lexi Jensen pitched in with eight points as well.

BLHS improves to 4-12 with the win and will play at home against Wabasso on Monday. GFW falls to 3-15 and will host Springfield on Monday.

Wabasso 75,

St. Mary’s 32

WABASSO – Wabasso continued its strong play in the Tomahawk Conference by picking up a win at home against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday.

Chelsey Guetter led Wabasso with 17 points. Guetter was joined in double figures by Kimberly Frank and Larissa Rohlik with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Maddy Helget was the lone double-figure scorer for St. Mary’s with 11 points.

Wabasso improves to 18-2 (11-1 in Tomahawk) and will play at BLHS on Monday. St. Mary’s falls to 11-7 overall and will take on MVL at home on Monday.
