Eagles take SCC gymnastics meet

FAIRMONT-The New Ulm Eagles won the South Central Conference gymnastics meet Friday night in Fairmont. The last time it won the conference title was 2008.

New Ulm was first with a score of 138.575, Martin County Area was second with 134.9, Waseca was third with a 133.875.

Michaela Otterstatter and Emily Gulden were selected as All-Conference.

Otterstatter finished fourth in the vault with a score of 9.75. She finished second on the bars with an 8.675. She was fourth on the balance beam with an 8.8, third in the floor exercise with an 8.95 and she was in second place in the all-around division with a score of 35.5.

“I’m very proud of them, and we’re all very excited. They worked hard to get this point and it showed tonight,” New Ulm Head Coach Ariel McFarland said.

McFarland noted that the team score of 138.575 was a season-best.

New Ulm will participate in the Sectional Tournament Feb 15 in Watertown.
