Wabasso girls clinch a tie for first

Wabasso 60, MVL 55

WABASSO – Wabasso clinched at least a tie for the Tomahawk Conference title Friday night when it defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran.

Kim Frank led the Rabbits with 19 points and 19 rebounds. Chesley Guetter added 16 points, and 15 rebounds. Desi Kramer had 11 rebounds.

Mariah Schoof scored 21 points, including six three-point baskets for MVL. Sarah Burk had 12 rebounds and Anna Munson had 10 rebounds.

Wabasso (21-2, 13-1) hosts Canby Monday night.

MVL (18-4, 11-3) hosts Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (13-8, 9-5) Tuesday night.

Fairmont 56, New Ulm 33

FAIRMONT – Fairmont defeated New Ulm Friday night in a South Central Conference girls basketball game.

New Ulm’s Nicole Ditcrich scored 10 points. Ellie Schneider and Taylor Gouldan each added five points.

Alex Christianson scored 12 points for Fairmont and Kayla Lardy added 10 points.

New Ulm (0-18 overall, 0-9 in conference) will host Waseca Monday.

Springfield 62, BLHS 32

HECTOR – The Springfield Tigers defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game Friday night.

Sam Groebner led Springfield with 20 points and nine rebounds. Kasey Kretsch had 11 assists.

Hannah Vandervoort and Erica Zanoth each scored 10 points for BLHS.

Springfield (12-9, 9-6) hosts Wabasso Tuesday night. BLHS (1-18) travels to Renville County West Monday night.

GFW 66, LSH 31

HENDERSON – Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated LeSueur-Henderson Friday night in a non-conference grils basketball game.

Lexi Jensen led GFW with 20 points, Eve Bleick scored 17 points and Halley Busse had 13 points.

Stephanie Winter scored 13 points for LSH.

GFW (5-16, 1-13) hosts Sleepy Eye Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference game.

LeSueur-Henderson (1-20, 0-12) plays at Mayer Lutheran Tuesday night.
