Sibley East boys fall to GSL, St. Mary’s girls win

ARLINGTON – Tyler Bates scored 19 points and Brody Rodning added 16 points, but it wasn’t enough as Glencoe-Silver Lake cruised past Sibley East in non-conference boys basketball Monday.

Ethan Maass led GSL with 29 points and Keaton Anderson scored 22.

Sibley East is at Le Sueur-Henderson on Thursday.

Madelia 41

MADELIA – Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated Madelia in non-conference boys basketball action Monday.

Jack Bergemann scored nine points to lead Madelia.

Madelia (2-19) hosts Alden-Conger in the Valley Conference showcase on Thursday.

St. Mary’s girls 50,

Cathedral 48

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s held off New Ulm Cathedral in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball match Monday.

Nikki Carr led the Knights with 13 points while Maddy Helget and Devyn Meyer each scored 11 points. Helget hit two free throws late in the game to seal the victory for the Knights.

Paige Pautzke led the Greyhounds with 11 points and teammates Kristin Mohr and Karlee Pfaff each finished with eight points.

St. Mary’s (14-7, 10-5) hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday and the Greyhounds (13-8, 9-6) are at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Thursday.
