Springfield boys crush Bluejays

Springfield 86, Truman/ML 55

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield defeated Truman/Martin Luther in Section 2A, South Subsection boys basketball playoff action Monday.

Isaac Kirschstein led the Tigers with 21 points while Christopher Kretsch and Tyler Vogel each scored 19 points.

For the Bluejays, Cade Eckstrom led the way with 11 points.

Springfield (19-6) plays St. Clair at 8 p.m. Thursday in St. James Thursday.

Mountain Lake Area 81, Nicollet 37

MOUNTAIN LAKE – Mountain Lake Area had no problem with Nicollet as it defeated the Raiders in Section 2A, South Subsection boys basketball playoff action Monday.

Carter Kirk led the Wolverines with 26 points and 14 rebounds and Josiah Stoesz had 19 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Hempeck finished with 13 points, six assists and six steals.

For the Raiders, Dalton Rosin led the way with 13 points.

MLA (21-5) takes on Mankato Loyola on Thursday in St. James.

CM/C 53, Sleepy Eye 47

MORGAN – Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Sleepy Eye in Section 2A, North Subsection basketball action Monday.

Sam Pendleton led the Cougars with 15 points and five assists. Zach Kerkhoff had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Brady Kerkhoff had nine points and seven rebounds.

The Cougars led 26-24 at halftime.

Brandon Polesky led the Indians with 21 points and John Mangen had 10 points.

The Cougars (19-6) play Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity at 8 p.m. Thursday at Mankato West.

LP/HT 69, BLHS 57

LESTER PRAIRIE – Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity eliminated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart from the Section 2A, North Subsection boys basketball playoffs Monday.

Mason Clark led BLHS with 28 points and 10 rebounds and Kyle Kubesh finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Nick Machemehl led LP/HT with 28 points and Spencer Radtke scored 16.

LP/HT plays Cedar Mountain/Comfrey at 8 p.m. Thursday at Mankato West.
