Gladys Kiecker, age 82, wife of Kermit, of Fairfax, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, March 8, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials preferred to the St. John Lutheran Choir or Ladies Aide.
Gladys Grace (McBride) Kiecker was born on May 8, 1930, to Clarence and Anna (Witte) McBride on the family farm in Renville County, near Hector, Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota. She graduated from Hector High School in 1948.
Gladys married Kermit E. Kiecker on April 15, 1950, and they had two sons, Brock and Dana. The couple farmed in rural Fairfax for over 40 years and shared 63 years of marriage.
Gladys worked as a cooking consultant for 20th Century Microwave in the 1970s and also did product promotions in the 1990s. She was an active member of the Ladies Aide and Senior Choir at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax. She was also a founding member of the Fairfax Lioness Club. She served as president of the MN Porkettes. Gladys loved tending to her flower gardens, watching baseball games, baking with her grandchildren, quilting, and spending time with her many friends.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Kermit Kiecker of Fairfax, MN; sons, Brock Kiecker and his wife, Barb of Eagan, MN, and Dana Kiecker and his wife, Julie of Eagan, MN; grandchildren, Nicole Kiecker, Daniel Kiecker, Matthew Kiecker, Paige Kiecker and Mitchell Kiecker; sisters, Jean McBride of San Jose, CA, Ethel Tangness of Bloomington, MN, Fran Piehl of Howard Lake, MN; brother, Earl McBride and his wife, Lois of Hutchinson, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Anna McBride; sister, Doris Olson; and brother, Donald McBride.
