Sleepy Eye Council discusses Snow farm
SLEEPY EYE The Sleep Eye City Council reviewed several pending projects during its meeting on Tuesday.
The first was planning for determining self-assessments and preliminary prices for the former Snow Farm property project.
The project is aimed at creating residential, commercial and industrial property within the city limits just south of Highway 14 on the east end of town. The City has bought or annexed more than 350 acres for the project.
The assessments were only discussed because the final prices remain in flux until final determinations. A few examples given were that construction assessments could run $100 for each side of the road, sewer could run $50 each side and up to the range of $3,700 per lot for a large 6-inch water main.
While prices remained undetermined yet, the largest lots that would be larger than an acre could run up to $40,000 to $50,000 with land value and all the assessments combined.
In other action, the Council discussed proposed improvements to the Council Chambers. The project’s first phase is replacing an old projector for agenda and other Council items with an electronic chalk board display, which could cost approximately $1,500. Providing councilors with laptops for meetings is among other updates considered during the next three years.
