Gordy Palmer to Receive Distinguished Service Award

NEW ULM – Gordy Palmer has been chosen to receive the Distinguished Service Award from the MnIAAA (Minnesota Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association). This award is given annually to individuals for their service to athletic programs in a local Minnesota high school. Palmer will receive this award on April 4 at a banquet during the annual MnIAAA Conference at the River Center in St. Cloud.

Palmer has served as the volunteer public address announcer at Cathedral High School football games for the past 33 years. He has also been the public address announcer for New Ulm Cathedral home baseball games for the past 13 years. That amounts to approximately 300 Cathedral High School athletic events since he began announcing.

Palmer will be recognized on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Best Western Kelly Inn, downtown St. Cloud. Anyone interested in attending this event can order extra tickets by sending a check to Mike Beck, 780 Acorn Circle, Monticello, Minnesota 55362. The cost for a ticket to the banquet is $20 and extra tickets need to be ordered by March 21.
