BUFFALO?LAKE – Marvin P. Markeson, 90, of Buffalo Lake, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.

Memorial service will be hat 1 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Visitation is one hour before the service Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector.

Marvin Peter Markeson was born Jan. 19, 1923. in Proctor, Minn., to Peter and Inga (Kummervold) Markeson.

He served in the United States Navy from April 9, 1940 to August 29, 1945, and after his discharge, he actively served with the Merchant Marines until March 14, 1946.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet M. Markeson, of Buffalo Lake; children, Tom Markeson, Patricia Markeson, John Markeso, Bob Markeson and Jim Markeson; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and stepbrother Emil Substad.
