GIBBON – Elmer Klukas, 78, of Gibbon, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, March 28 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with Pastor Kimberly Buffy officiating. Burial will follow in the Augustana Lutheran Church Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. To sign the guest book or to leave an online condolence for his family go to www.mfvh.org.
Elmer is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Tim Schlueter of Winsted, Amy and Gary Schimmelpfenning of Gibbon, Kelly and Bill Green of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Alex, Andy, and Abby Schlueter, Dylan and Cody Schimmelpfenning, Billy, Hannah, and Joe Green; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois Burley of Arizona, Myrna and Dale Magandy of Buffalo, and Connie and Scott LaValley of Elk River.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Lee.
Elmer William Klukas was born Feb. 28, 1935 in Gibbon to Rudolph and Gladys (Stark) Klukas. He was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. He attended school in Gibbon and graduated from Gibbon High School with the class of 1953. Elmer was united in marriage to Leorda “Lee” Kramer on Sept. 21, 1957 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. After marriage they resided and raised their kids in Gibbon. Elmer managed the Gibbon Farmers’ Elevator for many years. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family and friends. Elmer was a member of the Augustana Lutheran church in Gibbon.
