NU Council accepts K9 donation, appoints RockVam to Park and Rec
NEW ULM The New Ulm City Council accepted a $500 donation from the Key City Kennel Club of Mankato to maintain the K9 unit in the New Ulm Police Department on Tuesday during a meeting at City Hall.
The Department previously considered cutting the unit to meet budget constraints. A decision was made to keep the K9 unit and find cuts in other budget areas.
The Council also approved appointing Councilor Ken RockVam to the Park and Recreation Commission. He is the first councilor to occupy the new seat added to the Commission, which will now always include a Council member.
The Council also held the second and final reading of the ordinance allowing the sale to alcohol in City of New Ulm facilities during amateur athletic events where the team members are older than 18-years old. The change was sought by the Goosetown Roller Girls for their home matches.
