Tough travel via scooter on an April day

An optimistic student traveled to Jefferson School Thursday on a scooter. Shortly after noon and an early dismissal prompted by a snow storm, the student attempted to navigate the sidewalk on South

Payne Street in New Ulm.

Snow accumulation in New Ulm as of 8 p.m. Thursday was 8.5 inches. A power outage near Courtland was reported due to the weight of the snow and

strong winds. Travel was not advised.

Today, conditions will be breezy, but no snow is forecast. Highs will be in the mid 30s and in the upper teens tonight. Average high temperatures for mid April can be the low 60s, and the average low is 35.
