Walter “Boobie” Nonnemacher
NEW ULM – Walter “Boobie” Nonnemacher, 85, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Full military honors will be conducted at the funeral home following the service by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Walter is survived by his wife, Margaret “Blod” Nonnemacher of New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Nan Nonnemacher, Ann and Leon Olsen, all of New Ulm; grandchildren, Ashley Olsen, Alyssa (Joe) Guggisberg, Danielle (Derek) Wills, Tyler Polzin; great-grandson, Alexander Guggisberg; step-great-granddaughter, Madison Wills; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Helen Nonnemacher of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wallace Robert Nonnemacher in 1968; and by his parents.
Walter Robert Nonnemacher was born January 4, 1928 in New Ulm to Leo and Elvina (Gareis) Nonnemacher. He attended New Ulm Public High School and graduated with the class of 1945. After graduation, Walter joined the Navy and served in World War II. On June 10, 1950 Walter was united in marriage to Margaret Warner in Mankato. He owned and operated his own dry cleaning business for twelve years in Wabasso and from 1968-1989 in New Ulm. Walter also worked at Kraft Foods in New Ulm and as a bus driver after his retirement. He was the first State Champion wrestler from New Ulm and held the title for over 30 years. He was also a great checkers player and enjoyed horseshoes, playing cards, dancing, watching the Twins, deer hunting, and taking his grandkids fishing. Walter was a jokester and could always make everybody laugh.
