Ione Elg, age 76, of Comfrey, MN died on April 27, 2013, at her home in Comfrey, MN.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey Chapel and will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur.
Service will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur on Tuesday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m.
The clergy will be Rev. Lowell Asplund. Interment will be at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.

Ione was born to Joseph and Hattie (Warner) Johnson on February 12, 1937 in Adrian Township of Watonwan County. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur. After graduating from Comfrey High School in 1955 she worked at Friesen’s Variety Store in St. James. She married Ivan Elg at Darfur on November 5, 1955 and lived in Darfur for 11 years where she and Ivan owned the Darfur Farm Store. She lived on their farm near Darfur from 1967 until they moved to Comfrey in 2009. Ione loved to sing and was very active in her church. She was a church organist for many years and served in many ways. Ione was an awesome cook, and liked to garden, make quilts and crochet. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Ione is survived by husband, Ivan; daughters, Denise (Mike) Ludewig of Comfrey, Mary (Dennis) Carlson and Marlys (Bob) Christensen both of New Ulm; son, David (Paula) Elg of Butterfield; grandchildren, Kyle (Jess) Ludewig, Lisa (Josh) Brown, Aaron Ludewig (special friend Kenzie), Joseph Johnson (special friend Darcy), Ryan (Grace) Johnson, Andrew (Amanda) Christensen, Timothy (Fayth) Christensen, John Christensen (fiance Anna), Anthony Elg (special friend Tawana), Travis (Alison) Elg; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law,Henry Engdahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glen, Arne and Floyd Johnson; sisters, Marlyn Engdahl, Velma Vallin, Ruth Linscheid, and Harriet Swanson.
