Thunderbirds edge Mustangs in Tomahawk

FAIRFAX – Manny Randle of Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Thunderbirds to a win over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Friday in Tomahawk Conference baseball action.
Jaden Katzenmeyer was the winning pitcher for GFW, going 2 2/3 innings, giving up two hits and striking out two batters.
Kyle Kubesh was the losing pitcher giving up one run, one hit, walking two, striking out one and giving up one run.
Randle was 1-for-3, scoring the winning run.
Ryan Colter went 2-for-3 for BLHS, and he stole two bases.
GFW (4-5, 3-2) travels to Milroy to play Wabasso Monday.
Springfield 10, MVL 5
SPRINGFIELD -Springfield defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in a Tomahawk Conference baseball match up Friday.
Jake Menage went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Carter Erickson had a double and four RBI and Cooper Scheffler went 2-for-2.
MVL’s Nick Dewanz took the loss. He went 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and had one strikeout.
Dewanz went 2-for-3 and Carter Mielke went 4-for-4.
Scheffler earned the win for the Tigers. He went 2 1/3 innings, allowing four runs, nine hits and he had two strikeouts and one walk.
Springfield (10-2 overall) will travel to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Monday for a double header.
MVL will play New Ulm Cathedral at Johnson park Tuesday.
