Tigers top Indians in extra innings

Springfield 8, Sleepy Eye 7 (9 innings)

SLEEPY EYE – Jordan Salonek scored the winning run for Springfield in the top of the ninth inning as the Tigers edged Sleepy Eye Friday in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ softball game.

Jenny Platz was the winning pitcher and Molly Molly Dunn earned the save. Platz had two strikeouts, four walks, gave up six hits and six runs.

Kalyn Haas was the losing pitcher for Sleepy Eye, striking out two batters, walking six, giving up nine hits and six runs. She was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and one run scored.

Sonja Fiedler led the Tigers going 4-for-5, with three runs scored and one RBI.

Sleepy Eye (5-8) hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Tuesday.
