New Ulm crushes Marshall, Knights sweep Tigers

MARSHALL – New Ulm defeated Marshall in nonconference softball action on Monday.

Sydney Schuck earned the win. She struck out six in three innings and allowed three hits.

Brittany Hoffmann was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two stolen bases for the Eagles. Sarah Nelsen was 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBIs and two stolen bases. Kali Denn was 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBI and Brittany Denn was 1-for-1 with a double and she struck out five in three innings.

New Ulm (14-2) hosts St. James today.

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s swept Springfield in a Tomahawk Conference doubleheader on Monday.

In the first game, Maddy Helget earned the win and struck out six. She gave up three hits.

Laura Pelzel earned the win in the second game. She allowed seven hits and struck out six.

Emily Schumacher was 2-for-3 for the Knights in the first game and Deonna Brinkman was 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs in the second game.

Molly Dunn took the loss in the first game and Tiffany Schwanke took the loss in the second game. Sonja Fiedler was 3-for-4 to lead the Tigers in the second game.

St. Mary’s (11-3) is at Wabasso today.

WINTHROP – Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Wabasso in prep softball action Monday.

Erin McDurmont earned the win and Kim Frank took the loss.

Ashley Timm had a grand slam and Ashley Rothmeier had a hit to lead the Rabbits.

GFW (7-3, 6-0) is at Springfield today.
