Christenson no-hits Alden-Conger

ALDEN – Matt Christenson pitched a five-inning no-hitter as the Nicollet baseball team defeated Alden-Conger 16-2 Thursday in Valley Conference action.
Christenson allowed six walks and struck out four batters. Matt Fischer led Nicollet at the plate going 4-for-4 with a double and a triple and four RBI. Tanner Elliott was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI and Colin Bloemke was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI.
Nicollet improves to 4-4 on the season and will play again today.
St. Mary’s 9, Martin County West 6
SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Martin County West 9-6 in a non-conference baseball game on Thursday.
Mike Zinniel was the winning pitcher for the Knights. Zinniel gave up three runs on nine hits, one walk, and three strikeouts through six innings of work.
Brandon Helget led St. Mary’s at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBI. David Surprenant was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
St. Mary’s (13-1) travels to play a double header at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Saturday.

CCM10, BLHS 7
COMFREY – Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart and Comfrey/Cedar Mountain split two Tomahawk Conference baseball games on Thursday.
Tate Lange was the winning pitcher in Game 1. Lange pitched a complete-game shutout on three hits and eight strikeouts.
Mason Clark led the Mustangs offensively, going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Mitchell Treml got the win on the mound in the second game. Treml allowed five runs in five innings of work on six hits and two strikeouts.
Colton Kunkel led C/CM at the plate going 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBI, while Andrew Richter also went 3-for-5.
Ryan Coulter was 1-for-4 to lead BLHS.
Both teams begin the Section 2A North Subsection playoffs on Thursday with BLHS (3-12) playing at Cleveland and C/CM (1-15) playing at Nicollet.
