Amateur baseball round-up: Bullheads open season with loss
SEARLES – The Searles Bullheads lost 6-2 to the Southwest Outlaws on Sunday in Over 35 amateur baseball action.
The Bullheads took a 1-0 after Doug Eckstrom scored and they went up 2-0 after Kris Swenson crossed the plate on a Scott Rummel sacrifice fly.
The Outlaws scored six runs off reliever Brant Drill in the fifth inning. Rummel pitched the first four innings, allowing two hits and no runs.
The Bullheads finished the game with five stolen bases and they drew seven walks.
Searles hosts the St. Peter Saints at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5.
Springfield blanks St. James
SPRIGNFIELD – Springfield defeated St. James 3-0 in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action.
Jordan Milbrath picked up the win for the Tigers and Joe Hager took the loss for St. James.
Kaiserhoff falls to Henderson
HENDERSON – Henderson defeated New Ulm Kaiserhoff 5-4 Sunday in a River Valley League game. The game was stopped after seven innings because of rain.
Travis Kretsch went the first five innings and was relieved by Michael Schlottmann, who took the loss. Rick Jensen was 1-for-4 and scored two runs. New Ulm out-hit Henderson 7-6.
