St. Mary’s defeats Cathedral in Tomahawk

NEW ULM – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated New Ulm Cathedral Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference baseball game.
John Kopacek was the winning pitcher, going the distance. He gave up one run, two hits, walked five batters and he struck out three. He went 2-for-3 at the plate and he had one double.
Gabe Knowles was the losing pitcher, giving up four runs, five hits and he walked one batter.
Jake Stadick and Tyler Wall each had one hit for the Greyhounds.
St. Mary’s (17-1) plays at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial today.
New Ulm Cathedral (10-5) plays at Mankato Loyola Thursday.

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye nipped Mankato Loyola Tuesday in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday.
Dylan Klein was the winning pitcher, going three innnings, giving up one hit and one run. He walked one and struck out one batter.
John Mangen went 1-for-2, he had three RBIs, walked twice and he had two stolen bases.
Sleepy Eye (7-8) begins sub-section 2A play-offs at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bird Island when it faces BOLD.
Springfield 11, RRC 1
SPRINGFIELD -Springfield defeated Red Rock Central Tuesday in a nonconference baseball game.
John Anderson was the winning pitcher going the distance, striking out five batters and giving up six hits.
Tim Krueger went 2-for-2 with a double and he had four RBIs. Zach Mickelson was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Jacob Menage had three RBIs for the Tigers.
Thomas Blomgren went 2-for-3 and he had two hits for RRC.
Springfield (15-3) travels to Waseca for a 4 p.m. game on Thursday.
