Sleepy Eye, Cathedral girls going to Section golf meet

FAIRMONT – The Sleepy Eye Public Girl’s Golf team finished first at the Oakdale Golf Club Tuesday in the Sub Section 2A North meet.

Karrah Remus of Sleepy Eye Public scored a 86, Lauren Laffen finished second in individuals with a 89, and Emily Curtis rounded out the top three with 90. Other competitors for Public include Kaylee Hillmer (113), Tia Cselovszki (114), and Sarah Rossbach (148).

New Ulm Cathedral also goes to Sections as a team, finishing second with a team score of 412. Brooke Drummer shot a 97, Courtney Berg scored a 102, Meghan O’Brien finished with a 105, Grace Gills had a 108, Ellie Dittrich with a 111, and Megan Laraway finished up with a 133.

Sleepy Eye St. Marys finished third overall with Mackenzie Schutz finishing fourth in individuals with a 93. Anna Miller (113), Alyssa Rubey (117), and Sarah Surprenant (118) also qualified as individuals for the section meet.

Minnesota Valley Luthern qualified four for the 2A section meet: Laura Albrecht (103), Chrissy Biedenbender (112), Mariah Schoof (117), and Mariah Otterstatter (119).

As for boy’s golf, Sleepy Eye Public came in third, as a team, sending two individuals to sections. Tyler Netzke, who clinched the fifth place spot with a score of 84 and Ben Laffen who finished out the day with a 97. New Ulm Cathedral will have a familiar face at Sections as Conner Jakes advances with a score of 97 as well.

Kansas Adams and John Brandl, of Sleepy Eye St. Marys, scored a 91 and 95, respectively and will compete at the Section meet. Minnesota Valley Luthern backs Jacob Grunewald as he advances to sections after golfing a 85 Tuesday.
