SLEEPY EYE – Joan M. Schimschock, 70, of Sleepy Eye, died on June 22, 2013, at Divine Providence Community Home.
Service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye. The clergy will be Fr. Mark Steffl. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and will continue on Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Joan “Joni” was born on Aug. 23, 1942 in Richmond to Alphonse John and Lorraine (Thoms) Thul. She moved to Sleepy Eye where she attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. Joan married Jerome Schimschock on May 4, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, CCW and Christian Mothers. Joan enjoyed time with her family, friends and sisters. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren’s activities, sister get-togethers and Christmas at the Gables.
She is survived by her children, Scott and fiance JoAnn of Cobden, Jeff (Mary) Schimschock of Atwater, Lisa (Doug) Sellner of Sleepy Eye; eight grandchildren, Tanya, Dustin (Melanie), Justin, Tyler, Hanna, Jared, Kyle and Levi; three great-grandchildren, Zach, Chloe and one on the way; sisters, Diane (Chuck) Case of Sleepy Eye, Phyllis (Gary) Heinrich of Woodbury, Judy (Curt) Olson of South Haven, and sisters-in-law, JoEllen Thul and Marie Schimschock and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerome; brothers, Donald and Ralph Thul; sisters-in-law, Alice Domeier, Sally Zwach and Phyllis Schimschock; brothers-in-law, Mel, Jim, Ray and Eugene Schimschock, Jerome Zwach, William Domeier; parents-in-law, John and Mary Schimschock; grandchild, Baby Kelly; nephews, Tim Thul, Dan Schimschock and John Domeier, and nieces, Teri Hill, Sandra Thul and Carol Domeier.
