New Ulm boys lead All-Area team
Kelton Schmitz, Jr.,
Schmitz suffered a broken wrist late in the season at the subsection meet, but was among the team leaders all season as the Eagles qualified for state for the first time ever as a team. He averaged a 79.47 over 18 holes and finished third for all conference honors and was medalist at the tournament with a 74.
Jonah Cooper, So.,
Cooper averaged an 80.3 over 18 holes to help lead the Eagles to the state tournament. He fiinished sixth for all conference honors and was medalist at three meets during the year. He was co-medalist at the section 2AA meet with a 75.
Ethan Kraus, Fr.
Kraus averaged an 82.60 and was co-medalist at both the Section 2AA subsection and section tournaments with scores of 80 and 75. He was medalist in two other meets on the season and was a member of the state tournament team.
Matt Saffert, Junior,
Saffert averaged an 82.11 and finished fourth for all conference honors and was fourth at the tournament with a 78. He was the medalist in one other meet on the year and was a key member of the state tournament team.
Christopher Kretsch, Sr, Springfield
Kretsch averaged an 82.9 over 18 holes and was the medalist at every duo or triangular for the Tigers this year and was the Tomahawk Conference runner-up. He qualified for state this year and was a member of the 2011 state championship team.
Josh Cooper, Senior,
He averaged an 82.57 and finished seventh for all conference honors in the South Central Conference. He was the lone senior on the Eagles’ boys golf team that qualified for state.
