Remme wishes board the best at his last meeting

NEW ULM – The District 88 Board of Education bid farewell to Superintendent Harold Remme on Thursday night during his last school board meeting before retirement.

Remme said his tenure had been a good 16 years in many ways. He wished the Board the best future possible. Board members gave Remme a round of applause.

After the meeting, Remme said it was very different and distinct feeling to no longer be the superintendent. He plans to take retirement slowly at first, focusing on visiting with family and enjoying camping.

In other business, the Board approved the Health/Safety Policy and Health/Safety estimated budget for fiscal years 2013, 2014, and 2015. The projected budget is scheduled to increase from $213,188 this year to $358,273 in 2014, followed by a decrease to $188,845 in 2015. The budget totals vary due to different issues. The biggest planned change in an individual category will be a Fire and Life Safety item, which is $39,200 this year and will increase to $149,278 next year before dropping back down to $40,000.
