Bavarian Blast opens strong
NEW ULM – The Bavarian Blast festival at the Brown County Fairgrounds enjoyed a strong start to primary events on Friday with a large turnout and pleasant weather.
Organizers of the event estimated they saw more than 800 visitors for the Thursday night concert and more than 2,000 visitors at the Friday activities. The organizers said they are expecting an equally strong turnout today.
They attributed the success to bright, sunny weather on Friday. The weather was forecast to be slightly cloudier today, but the organizers expect the temperature to be just right for drawing people out of their houses.
Today’s events also feature the wacky and fun Midway events: Wiener Dog Racing at 2 p.m., a Sauerkraut Eating Contest at 4 p.m. and Barrel Racing at 6 p.m. All the events are open to public participation.
Additionally, a full line up of highly anticipated musical performances will be performed all day from 11 a.m until later into the night. The three tent areas will offer everything from polka music to exciting, modern bands.
