GAYLORD – Marlyn Barfknecht, age 81, of Gaylord, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 26, at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in High Island Cemetery, New Auburn. Military Honors by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post 433 in Gaylord.
Arrangements are with the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Marlyn Arthur Barfknecht was born on April 4, 1932, in Winthrop, to William and Alma (Luedtke) Barfknecht.
He served in the U.S. Army from January 1953 to January 1961. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.
He is survived by his children, Lynn Grochow of Gaylord, Patti Senske of Gaylord, Merri Pierson of Silver Lake, Jon Barfknecht of Maple Grove, Joni Thiem of North Mankato; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
