SPRINGFIELD – Erna Hoecherl, age 95 of Springfield, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial at the Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, July 28 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Erna Ernestina Hoecherl was born March 31, 1918 in Burnstown Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Otto and Martha (Sandmann) Krueger. Erna worked at St. John’s Hospital for over 13 years before her marriage to Norbert ‘Knobby’ Hoecherl on July 2, 1949 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. She then worked at the Springfield Hospital for 10 years. Erna was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, reading, playing cards, and gardening.
She is survived by son Barry and wife Rose Hoecherl of Springfield; daughters- Jane and husband Orlin Kiecker of Fairfax, and JoAnn Wintheiser of New Ulm; grandchildren- Jason (Michelle) Kiecker of Hutchinson, Beth (Chad) Cory of Easton, Sara (Wade) Carrigan of North Mankato, and Jon (Ellie) Wintheiser of Kasson; 7 great-grandchildren; and sisters- Elsie Roiger and Elizabeth Vanderwerf of Springfield. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Norbert in 1998; grandsons- Jordan Kiecker in 1992, and Nicholas Kiecker in 2010; brother Ervin Krueger; and sister Evelyn Wersal.
