Springfield gives up 9-1 lead to lose, end season
MILROY – The Springfield legion baseball team ended its season with a 10-9 loss to St. James in the division playoffs on Saturday at Irish Field in Milroy.
Springfield held a 9-1 lead before starting pitcher Carter Erickson allowed St. James to score six runs. Erickson was then pulled in favor of Isaac Kirschstein, who allowed two more runs by walking a batter with the bases loaded before hitting another to even the score at 9-9.
Shawn Anderson then came in to give up a base hit to give up the lead.
Springfield failed to get runners across in both the sixth and seventh innings, despite having runners on base in both innings.
Springfield ends its season with a 12-11 record.
