Brown County 4-H holds Horse Show
NEW ULM – Brown County Fair events began Saturday morning with the 4-H horse show at the Brown County Fairgrounds
Held on the final day of the fair in past years, the horse show was moved up a week in order to avoid running longer than other events on the final day of the fair.
An open horse show for anyone will be held at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10 at the fairgrounds outdoor horse arena. A 4-H horse exhibition will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 in the outdoor arena.
Sleepy Eye 4-H member Lisa Steffl said youth that take part in horse shows train for it nearly year around these days.
“Amy Stadtherr of New Ulm reached level five and six in her horse show training events,” Steffl said.
Other events at the 146th Annual Brown County Free Fair begin from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Civic Center with entry time for most open class exhibits. General 4-H exhibits will be entered and judged from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 4-H building. All 4-H livestock will be entered and in place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the livestock barns. Entry time for horticulture exhibits is noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Swine Barn Arena. Official fair opening is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday. The 4-H Fashion Review and demolition derby begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Other grandstand events include contemporary Christian musician Jason Gray at 7 p.m. Thursday, motocross at 7 p.m. Friday, a demolition derby at 7 p.m. Saturday and Minn-e-Rods and truck/tractor pulls at noon Sunday.
