Violet “Vi” Schneider
CROSBY – Violet “Vi” Schneider, age 92, of Crosby, died on August 6, 2013, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.
She was born on May 29, 1921, in New Ulm to Alfred and Mabel (Stoll) Hamann. Vi was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She married Jerome Paul Schneider on October 29, 1945 in New Ulm. Vi and Jerry were the owners and operators of Vi and Jerry’s Place on Hwy 6 North of Crosby. It was destroyed by fire in 1968. They moved to their farm North of Crosby in 1973. After Jerry’s death Vi moved to Crosby in 1996. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Crosby, the Myrin-James American Legion Auxiliary Post 433, Ironton, the Crosby Senior Citizens and the Deerwood-Bay Lake Senior Citizens.
Survivors include three sons, Jerome “Jerry” (Lynn) Schneider of Remer, Kevan (Linda) Schneider of Deerwood and Tom (Cindy) Schneider of Crosby; one sister, Delores Buetow of Crystal; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Jerome in 1995; 1 brother, Kenneth Hamann; and 2 sisters, Delphine Neumann and Lila Mickelson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.
Friends may call on Friday one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
