New Ulm’s first ‘Amazing Quest!’ starts Saturday

NEW ULM – New Ulm’s first “Amazing Quest!” will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, starting at Harmann Park in New Ulm.

The brain child of Mikyla Denney as a community project to help her earn her Girl Scout Gold Award, the Amazing Quest! is a a free, fun event for families, individuals or groups. It’s like a treasure hunt, only participants will be hunting for New Ulm information or history.

With sponsorship from Hearts Beat Back: The Heart of New Ulm, it is also a great way to earn health points for the LOSE IT to WIN IT challenge.

Participants can start anytime on Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon to finish by 1:30 p.m. The challenge starts at Hermann Heights Park, 14 Monument St.

Once they register at Hermann Heights, participants can bike, walk, stroll or run to different historical sites in New Ulm and find a clue at each site. Using clues found at each site, participants will find a treasure QUEST box with a surprise at the end of the event.

Participants will study each site, fill in their clue and receive their next clue to finding the treasure QUEST box. Similar to “The Amazing Race” TV show, at some sites they will have to complete a fun activity with a cultural twist before they can receive their next clue!
