Rita Werner, 48, of New Ulm, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Services will be Friday, August 9th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at St. Mary’s.
She is survived by her son Erick Werner; her mother, Rosemary Werner of Maple Grove, MN; brothers, Tony (Lori) Werner of Bloomington, MN, and Tim Werner of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Melanie Werner of Maple Grove, MN, Heidi (Brian) Berle of Shakopee, MN, Ursula (Glenn) Hillesheim of New Ulm, and Anne (Matt) Dempsey of Bloomington, MN; along with nieces and nephews, Lauryn and Lindsey Werner, Tony and Amber Hillesheim, Zane and Ryland Overing, Emma and Ethan Dempsey, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Werner.
Rita Ericka Werner was born December 20, 1964 to Otto and Rosemary (Bartl) Werner in New Ulm, Minnesota. She graduated from New Ulm Public Schools and received a degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She was employed by MBW Company in New Ulm for 18 years. Rita valued her connection with her ex-husband Ken Skorczewski. Rita was particularly grateful for the lifelong love and support of Gerald and Carol Larson.
Her passion was her son Erick, whom she loved dearly. Rita dedicated her life to helping others both in her work and in her free time volunteering for numerous community organizations.
