PUC to award bids on major project
NEW ULM – The New Ulm Public Utilities will meet Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The PUC will consider awarding the bid for the balance of the Back Pressure Steam Turbine Project for the power plant to Brennan Construction for $946,880. This project will prepare the power plant for the installation of the AirClean Technologies Backpressure Steam Turbine Equipment. The work is expected to be completed by March 31, 2014.
The PUC will also consider awarding the Hermann Heights Park Water Main Improvement Project to M.R. Paving and Excavating, Inc. for $85,282. The project will complete the link between the future Nehls Park water tower and the airport water tower with a large diameter water main. The work will be done from Oct. 14 to Nov. 2 to avoid conflict with Oktoberfest. The bid came in below the $104,000 estimate.
In another matter, the PUC will consider awarding the bid for 3.0 Ground Water Reservoir Repair Project to TMI Coatings, Inc. for $159,500. The project will repair failing masonry on the 3 million-gallon concrete reservoir, or Heinenhill reservoir. The work will be done between Oct. 7 and Nov. 4. The bid came in below the projected cost of $165,000.
