Wabasso crushes Sleepy Eye, 10-3

WABASSO – The Wabasso football team defeated Sleepy Eye 65-12 for its Homecoming game on Saturday.

Wabasso jumped out of the gate with a 30-6 lead after the first quarter thanks to three touchdown passes by quarterback Neil Eichten, a sack that resulted in a safety and an end-around by receiver T.J. Fulton.

Sleepy Eye (0-4, 0-4 SMC) did not score another point until the fourth quarter, but was already down 51-12 by that point.

Eichten finished 6-for-9 passing for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Tanner Bock led all ball carriers in rushing with 116 yards off 10 carries for one touchdown. Mitch Fulton also amassed 100 yards with his 105-yard performance off 14 carries for one touchdown.

Wabasso will play at Red Rock Central on Friday, while Sleepy Eye will host Martin County West. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
