PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUND-UP: Wabasso sweeps Chargers

WABASSO – Wabasso swept Minnesota Valley Lutheran 25-16, 25-13, 25-8 Thursday night in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Chesley Guetter was 18-for-18 with one ace, 14 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Larissa

Rohlik had 19 set assists while Jocelyn Rothmeier added 16 set assists and two blocks. Mindy Goblirsch was 11-for-11 serving with one ace Callie Rohlik had 10 digs and seven kills for the Rabbits.

Wabasso (11-2, 5-1) plays Saturday at St. James in the St. James Tournament.

Mayer Lutheran 3,

Sibley East 0

GAYLORD – Mayer Lutheran defeated Sibley East 25-15, 25-7, 25-18 Thursday night in a Minnesota River Conference volleyball match.

Megan Krentz had six kills and two blocks for the Wolverines. Megan Eckberg added five kills, three service aces and one black while Karley Lind had 12 set assistss and Paige Nelson had seven digs and two service aces.

Sibley East (14-5, 2-2) will play in the Dassel-Cokato “Charger Challenge” Tournament this Saturday.

New Ulm 3, Fairmont 1

FAIRMONT – The New Ulm Eagles defeated Fairmont in a South Central Conference volleyball match-up 25-23, 25-23, 9-25, 27-25 Thursday.

New Ulm’s Lizzie Rummel and Ellie Schneider each had eight kills and Alley Grejtak added six kills. Grejtak led with 22 set assists and Tori Botten added 20 set assists. Briana Sieve had 21 digs and Chase Schewe had 20 digs.

New Ulm will play Marshall Tuesday in New Ulm.

St. Mary’s 3, Sleepy Eye 0

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Sleepy Eye 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Claire Krumbach had 10 kills and Jamie Wells had five kills and three blocks. Karrah Remus had five kills and Justine Gonzalez had 10 set assists.

Sleepy Eye (1-3 in Tomahawk Conference) is at Cathedral on Monday.

New Ulm Cathedral 3, Springfield 2

SPRINGFIELD – New Ulm Cathedral edged Springfield 25-22, 18-25, 12-25, 25-14 and 15-12 Thursday night in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Mariah Hoyt was 18-for-18 serving with three aces, 10 kills, 21 digs and three blocks for the Tigers. Jenny Thoreson had 51 set assists. Hedi Veenstra added 24 kills and Amanda Rogotzke had 22 digs. Taylor Milbrath was 15-for-15 serving with one ace.

Amber Hillesheim was 18-for-18 serving with two aces, five kills and 15 digs for the Greyhounds. Morgan Schabert had 37 set assists to go with her 15-for-15 serving. Abby Hauser was 15-for-15 serving with 15 digs and Anna Mohr had 16 digs and nine kills. MacKinnon Ehlenz had 12 kills. Karlee Pfaff was 16-for-16 with 17 digs.

Springfield (5-8, 3-3) hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (9-6, 3-1) next Tuesday night. New Ulm Cathedral (9-7-1, 2-3) travels to Sleepy Eye (8-7-1. 1-3) next Tuesday night.
