Quilting for a cause

NEW ULM – A group of dedicated quilters have been measuring, cutting, and stitching for a cause this week a Sewing Seeds Quilt Co.

Owners Jackie Forst, Ann Wendinger and Cindy Wendinger have opened their shop at 1417 South State Street for volunteers to put together special quilts as part of their Pink Week event. Quilts made during the week are being donated to the New Ulm Medical Center for its ongoing breast cancer awareness fundraising efforts.

The group had hoped to provide at least three quilts, but with 24 volunteers showing up to donate their time and talents, the group is shooting for seven quilts to be completed by Saturday. Sewing Seeds is donating all the fabric and materials for the quilts.

Sewing Seeds is also selling commemorative T-shirts during the week. The $20 for the shirt includes a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
