NEW ULM – Kenneth Zobel, 87, of New Ulm died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at his home.
A private family service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Pastor Hank Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery with full military honors being conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Debra (Steve) Adam of Owatonna; sons, Walter (Marilyn) Zobel of New Ulm, and Eugene Zobel of New Ulm; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen on 7/3/2010; daughter, Peggy Filzen in 2005; an infant son in 1948; and by his brother, Howard Zobel.
Kenneth Eugene Zobel was born Sept. 12, 1926 in St. Paul to William and Martha (Krieger) Zobel. He served in the United States Army from1945 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Helen Roberts on Nov. 8, 1947 in New Ulm. After marriage they resided in New Ulm where he worked as a union carpenter in southern Minnesota until he retired in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Ken loved spending time with his family.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #132, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1648 and the Carpenters Union.
