Wabasso sweeps Cougars

Wabasso 3, CM/C 0

WABASSO – Wabasso defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in three games (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) on Tuesday.

For Wabasso (16-3, 6-2 Tomahawk Conference) Chelsey Guetter had 13 kills, while Callie Rohlik added six. Mindy Goblirsch had three kills, and Callie Rohlik had two. Larissa Rohlik had 12 set assists and Jocelyn Rothmeier added 16. Jamie Goblirsch had 15 digs.

For CM/C (1-13, 1-5), Natalie Hoffbeck was nine of 10 for serving with one ace. Courtney Nelsen had five kills. Hoffbeck had 10 assists. Andrea Ochs had 26 digs, and Courtney Nelsen had nine. Karli Kelly had three blocks, and Paige Richert had two.

Cedar Mountain/Comfrey will host New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday. Wabasso plays at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday.

Sibley East 3, Tri-City United 0

GAYLORD – Sibley East defeated Tri-City United in three sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-17) in a Minnesota River matchup on Tuesday.

Sibley East’s Autumn Dose had six kills and five digs. Megan Eckberg and Megan Krentz each had six kills and two blocks. Kelli Martens had six kills and Karley Lind added 19 set assists.

Sibley East (17-6-1, 3-3 Minnesota River) will play at Jordan on Thursday.


HECTOR – In a five-set thriller, the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart volleyball team outlasted BOLD by scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 20-25, 15-13. Carley Klabunde led the way for the Mustangs with 13 kills. Hannah VanderVoort had 12 kills and 20 digs, while Ashley Tintes had 14 digs and Mara Olinger added 10 digs. Tintes also notched 18 set assists.

BLHS improves to 11-8 overall and will play at Springfield next Tuesday.

MVL 3, St. Mary’s 1

SLEEPY EYE – Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in a Tomahawk Conference matchup in four sets (18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-20) on Tuesday.

MVL’s Laura Schoenherr had 33 set assists and seven digs. Rylee Weisensel had 11 kills and four blocks. Bekka Olsen added 10 kills, four blocks and six aces. Alexa Alfred had seven kills and six digs.

Bekka Schmitz had 13 kills and seven blocks for the Knights and Bethany Berkner had 24 set assists. Deonna Brinkman had eight kills and Hailey Neid had 18 digs. Nikki Carr finished with 14 digs.

MVL (9-12-2, 3-3 Tomahawk Conference) will host the Dig Pink volleyball matchup against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday. St. Mary’s (7-8, 1-5) will host Wabasso on Thursday.

GFW 3, Springfield 0

SPRINGFIELD – Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Springfield 29-27, 25-21, 25-13 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball.

For Springfield, Taylor Milbrath had two aces and Heidi Veenstra had 13 kills and 10 digs. Jenny Thorson had 23 set assists and Amanda Rogotzke had 15 digs.

For GFW, Erin McDurmont had nine kills and three blocks and Morgan Wenninger had 16 digs, eight kills, 17 set assists and three blocks. Kaitlyn Seehafer had five blocks and Halley Busse had 14 digs.

Springfield (5-9, 2-4) is at Redwood Valley Thursday.
