PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUND-UP: Sleepy Eye wins in four sets

Sleepy Eye 3, Lester Prairie 1

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye defeated Lester Prairie in four sets (25-18, 26-28, 25-23, 25-18) in a nonconference match on Monday night.

The Indians (5-12-1, 1-5 Tomahawk Conference), were led by Claire Krumbach’s 14 kills. Krumbach had a match-high nine service aces along with nine digs and four blocks.

Josie Schieffert, Hanna Sellner and Karrah Remus all had five kills each for the Indians. Justine Gonzalez led the team with 15 set assists. Miranda McMullen was not far off with 14 set assists and three aces.

Sleepy Eye returns to conference action on Tuesday, when it will hit the road to play Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop.

Lakeview 3, Springfield 1

LAKEVIEW – Lakeview defeated Springfield 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 in nonconference volleyball Monday.

Mariah Hoyt had eight kills and 13 digs and Jenny Thoreson had 25 set assists for the Tigers.

Springfield (9-11) hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Tuesday.

St. Mary’s 3, Cathedral 2

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated New Ulm Cathedral 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-11.
