NEW ULM – Gladys Mayer, 71, of New Ulm, died peacefully Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her home in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 12 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass.
A private family burial will follow at a later date.

Gladys is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Tom Schroeder of New Ulm, Amy Mayer (Joe Frost) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Kate and Andrew Schroeder of New Ulm; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Curt Sorensen of Paynesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alern Jr. “Butch” and Jean Bendix of New Ulm, Berton and Sherry Bendix of Courtland; brother-in-law, James Mayer and friend Dorothea Paul of Winthrop; and many nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gail Mayer on September 12, 2009; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Eva Mayer.
Gladys Edna Bendix was born on March 24, 1942 in Nicollet to Alern and Edna (Bode) Bendix. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Elementary School and Nicollet Public High School. On February 4, 1967 Gladys was united in marriage to Gail Mayer at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Gladys worked as a small engine technician for many years at Techtronics, QMC, and MCG. She enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends, camping with her family, visiting northern Minnesota, and gardening. Gladys was a graceful, gentle, kind and generous woman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Gladys was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.
