OLIVIA – Dorothy Sather, age 92, of Olivia and formerly of Franklin and Redwood Falls, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
Funeral services are Saturday, November 2, at 1 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church at rural Franklin with burial in Hauges Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service in Olivia.
Dorothy Mae Sather was born May 15, 1921 in Dodge County, MN to John and Ina Mae(Saxton) Thompson. She graduated from Morton High School in 1939 and then worked at Simon Brothers Mercantile in Morton. Dorothy married Clarence Sather on January 25, 1950 in Franklin, MN. They were blessed with two sons. During several different time periods Dorothy worked at Franklin Produce candling eggs. Dorothy had enjoyed quilting, doing crossword puzzles and handiwork, and she especially loved being with her family. She was a faithful member of Central Lutheran Church, rural Franklin, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and was active in the ladies quilting group. Dorothy had lived in Franklin until August of 2008 when she moved to Johnson Park Place in Redwood Falls. She became a resident of Golden Living Center in Olivia in May of 2013.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Shelley Sather of Savage and Curtis and Sue Sather of Olivia; her two grandsons, Kyle Sather and Aaron Sather; her siblings, Dale Thompson of Watertown, SD, Harriet Schulte of Hutchinson, Raymond (and Carol) Thompson of Franklin, and Ronald (and Dorothy) Thompson of New Ulm.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence in 1982, and her sister Viola Downs.
