NEW ULM – Rachel Wellmann, 86, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Rachel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Marvin Guse; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Kathleen Wellmann; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Adeline Riebel, Arleta Portner; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford Wellmann on Sept. 7, 2010; and by a brother, Harvey Lendt.
Rachel Irene Lendt was born on Dec. 20, 1926 in Stark Township, Brown County to Frederick and Alice (Schmalfeld) Lendt. She was baptized on Jan. 6, 1927 and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. On Aug. 20, 1946, Rachel was united in marriage to Clifford Wellmann at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Rachel farmed with her husband, Clifford, and enjoyed volunteering for various organizations including the American Red Cross, which she assisted with for 37 years and served as chairperson for Brown County, and as a grey lady at the local hospitals and nursing homes. Rachel enjoyed sewing, playing cards, bowling in several leagues in Hanska and New Ulm, and dancing to old time music. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
