MPCA cites area firms for violations
ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) completed 63 enforcement cases in the third quarter of 2013 that totaled more than $577,000 in fines.
Area businesses cited in the latest MPCA news release were Eckert Farm Supply, Gibbon, solid waste violations, $6,149; American Art Stone Co., New Ulm, storm water violations, $3,900; Randy’s Auto Body & Glass, Redwood Falls, solid and hazardous waste violations, $2,650; Kandi-Lake Excavating Inc., Lake Lillian, individual septic treatment system violations, $1,100; Lowell Heiderscheidt, dba Heiderscheidt Construction, Sleepy Eye, solid waste violations, $875; Altmann Family Pork, Inc. New Ulm, feedlot violations, $500.
Monetary penalties are just part of the MPCA enforcement process. Agency staff provide assistance, support and information on steps and tools needed to achieve compliance for any company or local government that asks for it.
