Wilma Jacobson

NEW ULM – Wilma Jacobson, 90, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Ridgeway on 23rd in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in rural Hanska with Pastor Sarah Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Hanska Lutheran Cemetery.

Wilma is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and Curt Nelson of Mayer, Diane and Dennis Wiesenborn of Moorhead; five grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Sharla, Sara and Dustin, Jacob and Kirby, Paul, Jesse; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean and Edward Tasler of Jeffers; sisters-in-law, Odette (Bob) Fast of Fairmont, Lorraine Janzen of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Millie Jacobson of Madelia, Betty Jacobson of Edgewater, Florida; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morton Jacobson on January 14, 2011; and brothers, Harlan and Kenneth Janzen.

Wilma Marjorie Janzen was born on June 11, 1923 in Mountain Lake to Abram and Clara (Gohr) Janzen. She graduated from Mountain Lake High School with the class of 1941, and then went on to further her education at Mankato Commercial College. On April 2, 1948, Wilma was united in marriage to Morton Jacobson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. For sixty years they made their home in Riverdale Township, Watonwan County where they farmed together and raised their family, before moving to New Ulm in 2008. Wilma enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, Hardanger, embroidery, and serving as an adult 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. Wilma was a member of the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church, the WELCA, the Lake Hanska church council, and the Luther Memorial Board and Auxiliary.
